PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the effort needed to extract the shape data of an object of unknown shape out of overall image data where the object of unknown shape is combined with an object of known shape, thereby facilitating the use of the shape data of the object of unknown shape. SOLUTION: A program for extracting the shape of an object of unknown shape causes a computer to implement a step for obtaining shape data for displaying the images of an object of unknown shape and an object of known shape independently and in an overlapping manner on a screen, a step for obtaining the shape data of the object of known shape, and a step for calculating the shape data of the object of unknown shape by deleting the shape data of the object of known shape from the shape data for overlapping display.
