PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication procedure identification method capable of solving the problem that communication can be performed only between nodes corresponding to the same frame form since the frame form of the data part of a TCP/IP protocol is different depending on a communication procedure, and coping with the plurality of frame forms without changing a communicating party apparatus. SOLUTION: Nodes (71-7n) not connected to a network store values indicating respective hardware in a field storing a hardware type in an ARP packet and transmit it. A node (80) already connected to the network receives each ARP packet, checks the value of the hardware type in the packet, and when it is suited to the network connected at present, returns the ARP packet and establishes the communication.
