PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device having an efficient and easy-to-predict heating process. SOLUTION: The microwave heating device includes a dielectric microwave applicator having a microwave coupling means adaptable for supplying microwave energy to the applicator. The applicator has a load chamber 8, and the load chamber 8 coaxially extends from the upper end of the applicator to the center axis of the applicator by a predetermined distance from the lower end. The load chamber is adaptable for receiving a load to heat. The dielectric applicator includes two sections, namely, an upper section 4 having the load chamber, and a lower section 6 for impedance matching between the coupling means and the upper section. In the preferred embodiment, the lower section has a cross section area which is gradually larger as tending from the coupling means to a point of crossing the upper section.
