PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent increase the number of clips in copying format data having a clip definition. SOLUTION: A clip adjusting process is performed to set one clip including multiple copy source clip configuration data corresponding to a play item in the playlist file, as a copy destination clip. With this configuration, it is possible to achieve copy recording without increasing the number of copy destination clips more than the number of copy source clips. For example, when a copy recording process is performed in various formats in which there is an upper limit on the number of clips, such as the AVCHD format or the BDAV format, a large amount of data can be recorded without exceeding the upper limit of the number of clips defined by the format.
