PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a new crystalline epoxy resin which is solid at ordinary temperature and has low melting viscosity, and excellent curing property, and gives a cured product having mechanical strength, heat resistance and moisture resistance. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the new crystalline epoxy resin expressed by general formula (1), an alkali metal salt of 1,4-dihydroanthrahydroquinone compound is allowed to react with epihalohydrin.
