<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device for retracting and drawing a seat belt by a motor which is capable of rapidly retracting the seat belt while avoiding the start of the motor from a highly loaded state. <P>SOLUTION: When it is discriminated that a collision is inevitable, a motor (110) is driven for a while in the drawing direction of a seat belt (302) to loosen the seat belt. Thereafter, the motor (110) is driven in the retracting direction of the seat belt (302) to perform retraction at the high-speed rotation.
