INITIATOR SYSTEM FOR SELF-CURABLE PLASTIC, USE THEREOF AND BONE CEMENT COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME INITIATOR SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initiator system for self-curable plastic, use thereof and a bone cement composition containing the initiator system.

SOLUTION: The initiator system for the self-curable plastic comprises: (a) dialkyl barbituric acid and/or alkyl cycloalkyl barbituric acid insoluble in methacrylate and/or at least one of the salts of alkyl aryl barbituric acid and/or cycloalkyl aryl barbituric acid; (b) at least one of heavy metal salts insoluble in methacrylate monomer; (c) at least one of halide ion donors soluble in methacrylate monomer; and (d) at least one of acids soluble in methacrylate monomer. PMMA cement paste having excellent storage stability is produced and surely initiates the radical polymerization. The polymerization is started to be delayed by the initiator.
