PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welder used most suitably for plate rolling, and to provide a rolling method includes a most advantageous step of plate rolling concerning welding of a leader piece and its separation after the welding. SOLUTION: A welder 10 for a rolling apparatus simultaneously welds a plurality of points by carrying out series welding by using a back bar arranged under a pass line and a welding gun arranged above the pass line. A leader piece L held by an outlet side coiler 4 and the front edge of a to-be-rolled plate A are joined by using a spot welder 10, and rolling of the to-be-rolled plate A is finished by an even-numbered pass, which advances to an inlet side coiler 3.
