PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device where an appropriate charge current or charge voltage can be set, corresponding to the kind of a lithium ion battery pack, relating to a charging device for charging a lithium battery pack which has one or more lithium ion secondary cells within. SOLUTION: In the charging device 200, the lithium ion battery pack 2 is constituted by building in a battery kind discriminating resistor 7 which corresponds to the number of the built-in lithium ion secondary battery cells 2a and its connection form. A control circuit device 50 sets the charge current and charge voltage of the lithium ion battery pack 2, in answer to a control signal which arises from the battery kind discriminating resistor 7 of the battery pack 2.
