PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking controller for reducing collision damage capable of reducing the possibility of secondary damage involving a vehicle running behind. SOLUTION: The braking controller for reducing collision damage is characterized in that collision timing is calculated based on obstacle information obtained by a radar when the radar detects the obstacle in front of the vehicle (S2), a preliminary lighting control (for example, blinking) of a brake lamp is started at first timing prior to the collision timing (S3 to S4), and the braking is started at second timing closer to the collision timing than the first timing as well as the brake lamp is lighted (S5 to S10). The braking is not started yet during a period of the preliminary lighting control, and thus, the preliminary lighting can be sign for notifying the vehicle running behind that the braking is going to start.
