摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector device capable of reducing deterioration in mask attaching accuracy and an adverse effect on a projected image due to the miniaturization thereof. SOLUTION: The projector device includes: an illuminating optical system for making light emitted from a light source nearly collimated light; a polarization beam splitter for polarization-splitting the nearly collimated light and emitting the polarization-split light as illumination light from an illumination light emitting surface; a reflection type liquid crystal display element having a rectangular display area disposed facing the illumination light emitting surface, for modulating the incident illumination light as modulated light and emitting the modulated light to the polarization beam splitter; and a projection optical system for imaging the light obtained by polarization-splitting the modulated light by the polarization beam splitter. The projector device also includes a mask including: a shielding part 228c for preventing the illuminating light from entering the non-display area located around the rectangular display area 240; and a positioning part 228a for positioning the shielding part 228c in a prescribed position on the illumination light emitting surface of the polarization beam splitter.
