It is possible to suppress erroneous judgment that a voltage drop caused by current sweep indicates a hydrogen leak or cross leak when operation of a fuel cell has stopped. In order to realize this, if current sweep is executed to suppress degradation of a fuel cell during an intermittent operation, i.e., when power is supplied from accumulation means in the fuel cell system to a power consumption device while the fuel cell system is in the low load mode and power generation by the fuel cell is temporarily halted; a hydrogen pressure at the anode of the fuel cell is corrected according to the hydrogen volume consumed by the current sweep and it is judged whether a hydrogen leak by the pressure drop or a cross leak by the pressure drop has occurred according to the hydrogen pressure after being corrected. For example, it is possible to integrate the hydrogen pressure drop speed of the anode caused by power generation upon current sweep and calculate the hydrogen pressure drop caused by the power generation so as to reflect the hydrogen pressure drop. |
