The rotor (10) has a rotor armature (12) with axial winding grooves (13) that are distributed around an outer periphery. Winding rods (14, 15) of a rotor winding are inserted into the grooves. Winding ends (16, 17) of the rods form a winding head (11), where the winding ends protrude axially from the rotor armature. The winding head is retained against the centrifugal forces that arise by a retaining device (19), which comprises a set of radial bolts (24). The bolts have heads that are rigidly fixed to a shaft.
