<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device in which the driving voltage is lowered by reducing an added amount of a chiral agent and lowering of the contrast due to temperature variation is prevented, and to provide an electronic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal layer 13 exhibits optical isotropy when no electric field is applied thereto, exhibits optical anisotropy when the electric field is applied thereto corresponding to the electric field intensity, and further has a property to selectively reflect circularly polarized light rotating in one direction, wherein light having passed through a polarizing portion 14 is circularly polarized light rotating in a direction opposite to that of the circularly polarized light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
