PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving high-speed printing and improving image quality. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a fixing roller; a heating means; a temperature detection means detecting a fixing temperature of toner or an in-apparatus temperature; a control means controlling the fixing temperature or the like at a target temperature; a printing suspension means which determines that an end-part temperature of the fixing roller is raised when it is detected that the fixing temperature or the like exceeds a preset temperature and which executes printing suspension processing suspending the printing to lower the end-part temperature to a preset temperature or lower; and an image quality adjusting means executing image quality adjusting processing in response to the number of printed sheets or the printing time reaching a threshold. The printing suspension means waits until the number of printed sheets or the printing time at a time point when it is determined that the end-part temperature is raised reaches the threshold, and executes the printing suspension processing simultaneously with the image quality adjusting processing.
