PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the pressing rod 10 remains contacting the test piece 5 when a pressing rod 10 is pressed onto a test piece 5 on a holding shelf 4, and then that the test piece 5 is locked by the pressing rod 10 to disturb the transfer during transfer of the test piece 5. SOLUTION: A testing machine TM keeps an elastic body 12 interposed between a rocking arm for holding the pressing rod 10 rockably and a fixing portion on the holding shelf 4. Thus, even when the pressing rod 10 is pressed onto the test piece 5, the pressing rod 10 is retreated from the test piece 5 by 1 to 2 mm by an elastic force of the elastic body 12.
