PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous metal or ceramic receptacle and its manufacturing method by which the problem that a conventional receptacle for containing a volatile liquid is not suitable for carrying a small amount, for volatilization effective for a long time and for decoration can be solved. SOLUTION: The porous metal or ceramic receptacle for containing a volatile liquid includes a structure which is formed by sintering metal or ceramic and is provided with ventilation pores. The ventilation pores extend from the outer surface of the structure toward its inside and are used as spaces for transferring or storing the liquid. Its manufacturing method includes the step a, in which a low-temperature-volatile substance is formed into a core, the step b, in which the core is completely covered with metal or ceramic powder in a previously arranged die, the step c, in which the density of the metal or ceramic powder is controlled, the step d, in which it is sintered at the temperature of vaporization of the core or higher for evaporating the core and allowing it to escape and the step e, in which the previously arranged die is detached after completion of sintering.
