A tyre for motorcycles comprises a tread band in which a tread pattern is formed which comprises a series of transverse grooves (31, 32, 41, 42) disposed at least laterally of said equatorial plane. The tread pattern on the whole defines a low sea/land ratio on said tread band. The series of transverse grooves comprises a plurality of main recesses (311, 312, 32, 411, 412, 42) having an overall length at least equal to one fourth of a lateral extension of said tread band. The main recesses define with said equatorial plane, an angle smaller than or equal to 65°, substantially over the whole length thereof.
