PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rice with adhesiveness and flavor of furnace cooking by adjusting the amount and pressure of superheated steam. SOLUTION: The rice cooker has a steam valve 17 which closes the upper part of a steam discharge cylinder 15 and is capable of swinging, the steam valve 17 has an umbrella part 16 which closes the steam discharge cylinder 15 and whose outer peripheral part is positioned on the outer side of the steam discharge cylinder 15, and the lower end face of the umbrella part 16 is at a position lower than a part abutting on the steam discharge cylinder 15. Steam generation means 10 and steam heating means for heating steam generated from the steam generation means 10 to have superheated steam over 100°C are provided, and the superheated steam is supplied from the upper part of an inner pot 2 into the inner pot 2 in a steaming step and a heat insulating step. When a pressure inside the inner pot 2 for which the steam valve 17 is elevated by the superheated steam reaches a fine pressure in furnace cooking, the steam valve 17 is automatically lifted in linkage together with the steam discharged from the steam discharge cylinder 15 and discharges the superheated steam, and thus the pressure inside the inner pot 2 is adjusted in a short period of time and the rice with the adhesiveness and flavor of the furnace cooking is cooked.
