PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of the operation for opening and closing a mecha-shutter for photographing still images. SOLUTION: The endoscopic system starts pulse emission after switching each ODD/EVEN field. The endoscopic system stops the pulse emission in a period of the same field after the beginning of the pulse emission. Upon the detection of the input of the operation to capture the still image, the endoscopic system switches a first vertical CCD driving pulse Vϕ1 to HIGH after the end of the pulse emission in the next first EVEN field. The endoscopic system switches a second vertical CCD driving pulse Vϕ3 to HIGH in switching to a second ODD field. The endoscopic system switches the first vertical CCD driving pulse Vϕ1 to HIGH in switching to a third EVEN field. The endoscopic system closes the mecha-shutter before the pulse emission in the third EVEN field. The endoscopic system opens the mecha-shutter in switching to a fourth ODD field.
