What is claimed is a sheet-type insulating element consisting of a rigid foam support body, which is intended for thermal insulation composite systems with an outer lining. This insulating element has, on one of the two surface sides, a) depressions in the surface region, b) an alkali-resistant and water-permeable fabric mounted flush over the area, and c) a flat surface resulting from features a) and b). The preferably longitudinal depressions are spanned by the fabric in the form of a glass fiber mesh and adhesive bonded by a cement filling compound. Since the fabric mesh is open in significant regions over the depressions, it can interlock mechanically with the tile adhesive to be applied and bring about pressure equalization in cooperation with the depressions. The disadvantages of thermal insulation composite systems known to date, for example efflorescence, moisture penetration, can be prevented completely with this system.
