The method involves determining fuel temperature in a low-pressure range (101,105) of a fuel injection system (100). A fuel temperature is calculated on the basis of another fuel temperature by a non-stationary energy balance. The calculation has a numeric integration of a system of coupled differential equation, particularly in real time. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a computer program product with program instructions for the execution of the method; and (2) a device for determining fuel temperature in a high pressure range in common rail fuel injection system.
