The method involves discharging fluid via a pump (10) i.e. lye pump, driven by an electrical motor (12), during a pumping process. An added power input of the electrical motor is evaluated during the pumping process for determination of the discharge volume during the pumping process. The added power input of the electrical motor is determined based on control values of a controller (14). A rotation speed and the electrical power of the electric motor are regulated, where the motor is provided as a brushless alternating current (BLAC)-motor or brushless direct current (BLDC)-motor.
