<p>There is disclosed an image forming apparatus for executing image formation based on an instruction for image formation from an external control device, comprising storage means for storing a sheet, carrying means for carrying the sheet stored in the storage means, and image forming means for forming an image on the sheet, and having control means adapted, upon receiving an instruction for starting the image formation from the control device, to control the image forming means and the carrying means to initiate an image forming operation, also to discriminate whether there is present an instruction for pre-feeding a sheet to be used in the next image formation to a predetermined position, and, in the presence of the instruction for pre-feeding, to cause the carrying means to execute sheet pre-feeding at a timing independent from the instruction from the control device. <IMAGE></p> |
