The method involves providing burner of a swirl generator (1), which forms a rotational flow of the combustion air stream. A liquid fuel is fed centrally along a burner axis in the swirl generator. A fuel of hydrogen is brought inside a flow conducting unit (7) or downstream the flow conducting unit. An independent claim is included for a burner for the execution of an operating method.
