The present application suggests a communications system comprising at least a first mobile terminal and a second mobile terminal. The transmission timing of one of the at least first and second mobile terminals is adjusted such that transmission signals of the first and second terminals are received substantially synchronously at a base station of the communications system. The scrambling code and at least a subset of channelization codes of the at least first mobile terminal and second mobile terminal are harmonized.
