HYBRID MATERIALS FROM A SILICATE-TREATED COLLAGEN MATRIX, METHODS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF AND THE USE THEREOF

Hybrid material (I) comprising a collagen matrix stiffened and crosslinked by silicatization is new. The collagen is recombinant collagen, eumetazoal collagen, sponge (demospongia or calcarea) collagen, a synthetic collagen analog or a collagen derivative. Independent claims are also included for: (1) silicatized porous collagen scaffold produced by freeze drying (I); (2) hydrogel produced by keeping (I) in a solvent in the absence of air; (3) xerogel produced by drying a hydrogel as above; (4) aerogel produced by substituting the liquid phase of a hydrogel as above and drying the product under supercritical conditions; (5) particles of (I); (6) coating material comprising (I); (7) producing (I) by mixing a homogeneous collagen suspension and a silicon precursor; (8) bone substitute material comprising (I).
