PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new composite particle which exhibits excellent feelings (smoothness and soft touch) in addition to a function (spreadability) that a conventional spherical particle has, when using it for a cosmetic, to provide a production method therefor, and to prepare a cosmetic containing the same. SOLUTION: The production method for the composite particles is carried out by the followings: after obtaining polymer particles having an average particle diameter of 0.5-100μm by polymerizing total 100 pts.wt. of a (meth)acrylate monomer and a crosslinkable monomer in an aqueous medium containing w<SB>1</SB>pts.wt. of a water-swellable clay mineral having an average particle diameter of 1-100 nm, the obtained polymer particles are stuck with w<SB>2</SB>pts.wt. of hydrophobic inorganic powders having an average particle diameter of 1-100 nm. Wherein w<SB>1</SB>and w<SB>2</SB>satisfy the following relations on the basis of the above 100 pts.wt. of the total amount of the monomers: w<SB>2</SB>>w<SB>1</SB>; 1≤w<SB>1</SB>≤3; and 1.5≤w<SB>2</SB>≤5.
