PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting structure of a steering column for a vehicle capable of improving supporting rigidity in a horizontal direction while preventing the generation of forcible feeling or noises when the position of a steering column is adjusted. SOLUTION: Horizontal rigidity reinforcing parts 38 formed of nonmetal and having elasticity are mounted on a pair of the side plates 31b, 31c of a bracket 31 at the vehicle body side and one member of the outer walls of displacement parts 30b, 30c in the vehicle width direction of a bracket 30 at the column side. During the loosening operation of a fastening part 34, when the bracket at the column side moves in front and rear directions of the vehicle or in the vertical direction of the vehicle, the pair of the side plates and the other member of the outer walls of the displacement parts in the vehicle width direction of the bracket at the column side on the horizontal rigidity reinforcing parts. During the fastening and operating of the fastening part. the horizontal rigidity reinforcing parts locally abut on the other member while being elastically compressed. and the pair of the side plates of the bracket at the column side come into face contact with outer walls of the displacement parts in the vehicle width direction of the bracket at the vehicle body side.
