Electrolytic cell and method for electrolysis

An electrolytic cell (20) for producing a sodium hypochlorite solution with active chlorine from brine comprises a hollow cylindrical metallic cathode (21), a hollow cylindrical anode (22) disposed within the cathode (21) to define an annular space (23) for passage of said solution during electrolysis, a case for closing the cathode (21) and the anode (22); a membrane (24) placed between the anode (22) and cathode (21) inside an annular passage (23) to define an anode chamber (26) and a cathode chamber (25); inlets (29) for introducing solution into the annular space and outlets (28, 30) for withdrawing electrolysis products include sodium hypochlorite and active chlorine. The membrane (24) is an anionic exchange membrane. The apparatus for producing a sodium hypochlorite solution with active chlorine is disclosed too.
