PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which is excellent in heat resistance and the like and is useful as a raw material for resins, a compound for forming self-organizing molecular films, and the like. SOLUTION: Provided is a new fluorene compound represented by formula (1), wherein X is an alkylidene group o an alkylene group; Y is OH group, SH group, COOH group, amino group, or the like; ring Z is an aromatic hydrocarbon ring, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each a substituent such as an alkyl group, (k) is an integer of 0 to 4; (m) is an integer of 0, 1 or larger; (n) is an integer of≥1.
