The method involves providing a sheet of a transparent front side overlay foil (100), a smart card sheet or a sheet of a transparent rear-side overlay foil (500). The smart card sheet is generated by preparation of a carrier sheet (300) and arrangement of a set of electronic components e.g. chip, on the carrier sheet. An injection molding procedure is performed for manufacturing the carrier sheet, where openings integrally formed with the carrier sheet are generated and arranged on the carrier sheet for late reception of the electronic components.
