<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of compatibly reducing feeling of a flicker and improving moving image response without reference whether input video includes a line flicker component. <P>SOLUTION: Adaptive grayscale conversion is selectively carried out so that while a time integral value of luminance in a unit frame period is maintained for a video signal of a pixel area wherein movement information MDout and edge information EDout larger than a predetermined threshold in a video signal D1 are detected, a high-luminance period and a low-luminance period are allocated to sub-frame periods SF1 and SF2 in the unit frame period. Further, when a luminance signal Yin includes a line flicker component, a mask signal MD1 for a time variation area of movement information MD0 based upon the line flicker component is generated. When the detected movement information MD0 includes the time variation area, mask processing on the movement information MD0 is performed by pixels using the mask signal MD1 to generate movement information MDout. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
