PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing L-amino acid by a fermentation method which is improved further than the conventional methods. SOLUTION: This method for producing the L-amino acid, comprising culturing an improved microorganism belonging to Enterobacteriaceae and having an L-amino acid-producing ability, in a culture medium for producing and accumulating L-amino acid in the culture medium, and then collecting the L-amino acid from the culture medium, is such that the concentration of phosphorus in the culture medium is a concentration that induces an expression by a promoter, wherein the improved microorganisms are obtained, by introducing a DNA fragment connected to a structural gene that encodes an L-amino acid-biosynthesizing enzyme to the downstream side of the pho regulon promoter to express with the promoter, so that the activity of the L-amino acid-biosynthesizing enzyme is increased by the induction of the expression by the promoter.
