<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe effectively charged within a short time, a battery charger, and an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, and an ultrasonic diagnostic system using these. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes detection parts for detecting charging of the ultrasonic probes 1a, 1b and 1c having rechargeable batteries, or battery chargers 1aC, 1bC and 1cC for charging the rechargeable batteries, and control means for stopping the ultrasonic wave transmitting/receiving operation. The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 11 includes a transmitted/received wave circuit 112 for generating signals for the transmission of ultrasonic waves and generating diagnostic information based on signals for the reception of ultrasonic waves; a probe switching circuit 115 for selecting one of the plurality of ultrasonic probes; and control means 111 for controlling the probe switching circuit based on signals detected by the detection part.
