PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read, store and output an image of a document by enabling reading operation to be performed when information of an IC tag embedded in the relevant document can be acquired. SOLUTION: When it is detected that an image is input to a buffer memory 410 and that a control circuit section 670 of an IC tag reader/writer 640 receives a radio wave from an IC tag 650, a signal input determination section 730 outputs a detection signal. Based on the detection signal that the signal input determination section 730 outputs, a CPU 740 determines that an image is read from a document paper sheet 140 on which the IC tag 650 is embedded, controls an image input/output controller 480 in accordance with the determination, and outputs image data stored in the buffer memory 410 to an external device, such as a printer.
