PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of appropriately controlling temperature. SOLUTION: The fixing device has a non-contact thermistor for measuring the temperature of a body to be measured and an infrared sensor (thermopile), and detects the temperatures using both the sensors. When an image forming apparatus is started from the fresh cold time of an image forming apparatus (S101), an amount of correction of the temperature of the non-contact thermistor is determined (S107) from the detected temperature of the thermopile (S103) and the detected temperature (S105) of the non-contact thermistor (S105). After the amount of correction is determined, the temperature of the non-contact thermistor after the correction is used for a soil correction to the thermopile. The non-contact thermistor and the thermopile correct each other, thereby improving accuracy in the detection of the temperatures of the non-contact thermistor and thermopile at the same time.
