PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cylinder for supporting a piston by an air bearing for providing the strong aligning action while using high pressure air for operating the air cylinder. SOLUTION: This air cylinder 12 has a cylinder body 31, the piston 32 slidingly stored in the cylinder body 31 and pressure chambers 33a and 33b arranged on at least one side in the sliding direction of the piston 32 in the cylinder body 31 and supplying the high pressure air. A high pressure air blowout port 34 for introducing a part of the high pressure air in the pressure chambers 33a and 33b, is arranged in a central position in the piston sliding direction on the outer periphery of the piston 32, and annular grooves 36a and 36b being an atmospheric pressure releasing part are arranged in both side parts in the piston sliding direction on the outer periphery of the piston 32.
