<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying images in color without using a color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The display device is constituted by laminating a dichroic micromirror array 20 and a microlens array 10 on a liquid crystal cell 60 composed of a TFT substrate 30, a liquid crystal layer 40, and a counter substrate 50. External light is converged by an outward convex lens 11 and is converted into parallel light by an inward convex lens 13. A slit 15 is formed in the vicinity of focus of the outward convex lens 11 to obtain parallel light by the inward convex lens 13 highly precisely. The external light is decomposed into red light, green light, and blue light by the dichroic micromirror array 20 and is made incident to a red pixel, a green pixel, and a blue pixel in the liquid crystal cell 60.
