PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a lock mechanism preventing falling of buckling plates in a high load mode. SOLUTION: A variable crush-strength device 13 includes at least a pair of buckling plates 23A that can be buckled by a collisional load, and inverse screws at both ends of an actuator rod 42A are screwed respectively to inverse screws of nut members 21A provided in the pair of buckling plates 23A. Thus, a tensile load and running torque are applied on the actuator rod 42A by the collisional load in the high load mode restraining falling of the buckling plates 23A by restraining the rotation of the actuator rod 42A with the lock mechanism 41. On this occasion, the lock mechanism 41 is not required to support the tensile load but just required to support the running torque, therefore, falling of the buckling plates 23A is restrained and the buckling plates 23A can be surely buckled even when the lock mechanism 41 is downsized and reduced in weight.
