PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply estimating limit sliding speed and a limit PV value of a one-side intermittent slide from limit PV values of a bicontinuous slide measured by a combination of hollow cylinder test pieces. SOLUTION: In the one-side intermittent slide as one form of sliding, for estimating a sliding characteristic value comprising limit sliding speed Viand a limit PV value Pviof the one-side intermittent slide at surface pressure Pifor which a load Wiis applied for a contact area Si, from the limit sliding speed Vtof the bicontinuous slide in the contact area Stwhen the load Wiis applied, which is calculated using a specific expression from the limit PV value Pvtof the bicontinuous slide, in the bicontinuous slide as another form of sliding, and from the limit PV value Pvwof the bicontinuous slide when a load W is applied at surface pressure Pi, one-side intermittent slide limit sliding speed Viis calculated using a specific expression, and the limit PV value Pviof one-side intermittent slide is calculated using a specific expression as needed.
