<p>Described is a moisture sealant composition for use in making wood joints. The composition is based on silyl polymers and provides a good moisture resistance and adhesive bond, By being gap-filling, the composition provides a better moisture sealant effect around joints than conventional wood adhesives do. Preferred silyl polymers are silyl terminated polymers or modified silane polymers. The moisture sealant composition comprises (i) at least 5% by weight of a silyl component, (ii) a first amount of 2-5% by weight of a reactive coupling agent, and (iii) a reinforcement booster selected from the group consisting of a second amount of a reactive coupling agent, so as to bring the total amount to a level of from 12-50% by weight, a reinforcing filler, preferably a reinforcing fiber, in an amount of 3-50% by weight, and mixtures thereof.</p> |
