<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and a method for making it, by which reduction in cost as well as improvement of manufacturing property is achieved. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module 10 includes: an optical ferrule 12 having an optical fiber holding hole 20; a flexible printed circuit board 14 provided to one end of the optical ferrule 12, positioned via a positioning means 21 and bonded; and a light receiving/emitting element 16 connected to an electronic component 15 on the flexible printed circuit board 14. The module 10 also has a short optical fiber 13 which is polished in the end face so as to be flush with the end face of the optical ferrule 12, is held in the optical fiber holding hole 20, and is optically connectable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
