POLARIZABLE ELECTRODE FOR ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR AND ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizable electrode for an electric double layer capacitor, which has good characteristics when exposed to air at high temperature and prevents decline in capacitance and increase in internal resistance, and also to provide an electric double layer capacitor using the same. SOLUTION: Ketjen black, activated carbon, and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) are churned to make a solution, and then a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) aqueous solution is mixed into the solution to produce slurry. Then thus obtained slurry is rolled to a thickness of about 150μm using a rolling roll into a sheet. On one surface of two sheet-like polarized electrodes formed of the sheet, an aluminum etched foil having a capacitance of 50-100μF/cm2is bonded as a power collector. The two positive and negative sheet-like polarized electrodes are disposed in such a manner that the surfaces opposite from the ones whereon the aluminum etched foils are bonded may face each other and are wound with a cellulose-based separator put therebetween to fabricate an electric double layer capacitor element.
