PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor allowing the easy use of metadata of a content without imposing a burden on a user, and an information processing method and a program. SOLUTION: The information processor performing the transmission/reception of content data with an external device has: a storage means storing first content data and first metadata; a content data detection means detecting whether or not second content data equal to the first content data are stored in the external device; a comparison means comparing second metadata related to the second content data and the first metadata when it is detected that the second content data are stored in the external device; and a metadata change means changing the first metadata based on a comparison result of the comparison means.
