PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently clean air in a room by controlling operation suitable for the particle size of dust floating in air in the room. SOLUTION: An air cleaner includes a main body 1 provided with a suction opening 2 sucking air in the room, an openable or closable suction cover part 9 installed at the suction opening 2, a blowing opening 5 for blowing cleaned air to the room and a dust sensor 7 detecting the diameter of dust in the sucked air. The air cleaner is obtained which can clean the room less stagnantly by controlling air flow corresponding to the diameter of dust in full opening of the suction cover part 9, half opening or closing to form circulating air flow of the room corresponding to the diameter of dust and to effectively suck it to the sucking opening 2 of the main body 1.
