<p>A pneumatic radial tire has a pair of annular beads (2A, 2B), a tread (3) having a tread surface, a pair of sidewalls (4A, 4B) interconnecting laterally opposite ends of the tread (3) and radially outer ends of the beads (2A, 2B), and a carcass layer (5) continuously extending along the inner sides of the beads (2A, 2B), the side walls (4A, 4B), and the tread (3) to form the framework of the tire. In a lateral cross-section of the tire, first rubber gages (G1, G2) representing the thicknesses of portions at laterally opposite ends of the tread (3) measured from the outer periphery of the tire to the carcass layer (5) are adapted such that the first rubber gage on the outer side of the tire, that is, the side of the tire farthest away from the vehicle when the tire is mounted on the vehicle, is greater than the first rubber gage on the inner side of the tire, that is, the side of the tire nearest the vehicle when the tire is mounted on the vehicle. Again in the lateral cross-section of the tire, second rubber gages (G3, G4) representing the thicknesses of those maximum width sections (4a, 4b) of the side walls (4A, 4B) which protrude laterally farthest and are measured from the outer periphery of the tire to the carcass layer (5) are adapted such that the second rubber gage on the outer side of the tire is smaller than the second rubber gage on the inner side of the tire.</p> |
