TRANSMISSION DEVICE, INTERFACE DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR SWITCHING FRAME

A transmission device performs cross-connection of the SONET/SDH signals received by a first network interface section and switching of the MAC (Media Access Control) frames received by a second network interface section. The transmission device includes a switching means to switch the MAC frames transferred from the second network interface section using the signals of a specific interface format. The switching means also receives data frames contained in the SONET/SDH signals from the first network interface section using the signals of the specific interface format, and switches the data frames extracted from the received specific interface format signals as simulated MAC frames.
