The forging process is for a sheet (2) with sides. The forging device (6) includes a stamp (7) acting with a die unit (1). The process involves rotating the stamp and/or the die in order to produce friction heat for improved forging of the part of the sheet in question, e.g. for acting on it by pressing the stamp into the cavity (3) of the die unit.
