PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bit for an opening of a slag discharge port capable of being used in a waste melting furnace by a number of times, with respect to the bit disposed on a tip of a hollow rod of a drifter used in boring work of a sealing agent (mud) of the slag discharge port in the waste melting furnace of a vertical furnace (shaft furnace) type having an inside temperature over 1,500°C. SOLUTION: This bit for the opening of the slag discharge port of the waste melting furnace is constituted by forming angle shanks composed of a crest line 3 orthogonal to a central axis of the bit on a tip face of the hollow bit for boring at three sides or four sides, depositing and weld overlaying a hardened padding material in series on both angle inclined faces 4', a top portion and its outer end face 4" of each shank, and detachably screwing the hollow bit 2 for boring to a tip of a hollow rod 1 of a rock drill.
